Pat Be by Love Is A Battlefield on Grooveshark remember this little ditty? she’s been buried in my sketchbook and i’m slowing regaining my acquaintanceship with ‘er. there’s actually a quite exciting series of drawings in the same style and motif pushed back in the tomb of sketches past. i’m coming, i’m coming… just distracted with severe depression, lifetime strain putting stress on the only things worth living for - but i have a sketch that will really knock your socks/shoes/toes rings off. more to come before i leave the country (hopefully!)

Sumthin Like This Night (feat. Gorillaz) by Snoop Dogg Featuring Gorillaz on Grooveshark life and creation in slow motion. i spend my time losing sleep over travel plans, life stresses: work… play… taking care of day to day business. free seconds are spent staring blankly into sound, making mixtapes and thinking. when my mind is broken from the worries and to-dos, i can sit and bob my head to eternally fresh beats and visualize cellular structures… i can try my hand at tiny black strokes on this piece as it crawls towards the finish-line… i can spend my time wisely with the man i love. the key to all things is balance. that key, like most things, often gets lost in the couch cushions or are in my other pants. but today, today feels like that gentle breeze to enjoy before the violent winds knock down my mental foundation tomorrow.
so, you know, take it easy kid.

Stand Back and Squint

after fumbling helplessly through the ‘technology’ drawer of my work desk for twenty minutes, i pocketed defeat and six AA batteries that were all out of juice. plan B: web cam - i can always count on it to be thoroughly cloudy, blurry and low res. don’t say i didn’t try.

Progress.

And Yes, that is grey scale - intentionally for the moment. my plans are to do a warm green glaze or two after this coat dries. i have a feeling it will lend a more dimensional grass than previously acquired. Also, you have my word that the painting is cleaner and sharper than perceived in said photos - proof in the near future.

Are You Watching?

stroke by stroke - piece by piece - its coming to me slowly, never dragging… that slow motion anticipation - like focusing on a mouthful hitting each tiny bud on your tongue until it waves over you: instantaneous and stretched out at once.

yesterday marks week 6 of biologics. i have been injecting myself for three weeks now - getting a little easier each time - but like painting - it will take time and it will never quite feel easy. (the day art is easy is the day i will hang my head low enough to drag behind me.) sounds like a good image. wait for it.

emotions have been re-rooting themselves in the frozen earth, hard and heavy and overwhelming. but i’m enduring for the long hall, so don’t trip.

Also, i’ve busied myself with the hope of completing this painting for what will be a very realistic and timely goal - The entry deadline for the 2012 NM Contemporary Art Showcase at 516 ARTS Gallery. Expect to see me there, hopefully twice over, and i will expect to see you too.

Thoughts & Prayers,

MA
